➡️➡️Learn more about Drum EQ Basics here: 🤍 ➡️➡️Download the multitracks here: 🤍 In today's video we will be going over Drum EQ Basics! We also have the multitracks for you to download, so you can follow along and mix them yourself! EQ is one of the most powerful things you can do to make a drum kit jump out of the mix. Today, we will using a very simple drum recording: there are two kick drum mics, two snare mics, a hi-hat, rack, floor tom mic, overheads, and a stereo room. I will be showing you how to get really quick, simple results from nearly any type of drum recording. First, we will be working on the inside of the kick drum. This one is a little bit clicky as it is picking up some of that snappiness of the beater hitting the head. Let’s apply a stock EQ plugin to get us started. Most of you know the principle of finding ugly areas and getting rid of them. To do that I am going to make the Q narrow and give it a boost, and once I find that ugly area, I will widen the Q. With that wide Q, I am going to do the opposite and cut that, which gets rid of some of that unwanted excessive bleed that you hear, as well as getting rid of that ugly mid range. Now, I am going to cut and widen it a bit more, and this cut exaggerates the clickiness more and that low thump below. Even on a kick drum, high-passing is not a bad thing, so I am going to make the slope a little bit more aggressive here. With EQ, we often do compression, reverbs, delays, and more, but many of you have asked me to keep it simple! This is a basic essential EQ guide to anybody starting out on mixing drums If you have trouble getting the separation and clarity in your drums this one is for you EQ is your best friend when it comes to carving out space in your mix ⬇️ Start by removing any unwanted frequencies, especially in the low end (kick) and high end (hats/cymbals). This will give each drum element its own space and allow the overall mix to breathe. Apply a low-cut filter on your kick drum around 20-40 Hz and a low cut filter on your hi-hats around 500Hz - 2kHz depending on the genre It’s simple but will get you in a great place to start your mixing journey #eq #mixing #mastering #tipsandtricks #drums #short

Tips and tricks for a solid kick drum sound in your drum mixes. Live or studio. Kick Drum Equalizer Tutorial for Live Sound / Recording. Using The Behringer XR18, X32, Midas MR18, M32. The bass drum sound is part of the bedrock of the drum mix and, typically along with the bass guitar, is the glue that holds the bottom end of he mix together. Whether in live sound reinforcement, or in the studio, you want your kick drum properly filling its role in the music you're mixing. These drum mixing tips and tricks in these channel videos, as well general concepts, should help you build your own mixes quickly and efficiently. Apply this information to your live sound system or your DAW and recording setup on your computer. When it comes to kick drum EQ and microphones, it's important to remember the genre you're mixing and the appropriate kick drum sound (and the sound the drummer is actually giving you). A jazz drummer might only need a light touch, while a metal drummer might benefit with a more aggressive approach. Your boost and cut frequency points will stay roughly in the same windows as the concepts in the video talks about, but maybe with more conservative boost and cut amounts for that jazz drummer (and maybe not even some of the boost at all), and more aggressive for the metal drummer.
